WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today the Rhode Island State legislature made history by becoming the 10th State to give committed same-sex couples the freedom to marry.
Following the vote, Log Cabin Republicans (LCR) Executive Director Gregory T. Angelo issued the following statement:
Rhode Island just voted in favor of the freedom to marry, making it the 10th state to recognize marriage equality for committed same-sex couples. Log Cabin Republicans applauds the Rhode Island State Legislature for making marriage equality a reality for the residents of the state, with special thanks to the leadership shown by the Republican Senate delegation who made history as the first caucus of any party to vote unanimously in favor of the freedom to marry. With marriage equality now the law in 10 states, the District of Columbia, and all of New England, it is more important than ever for all Republicans to stand with our colleagues in Rhode Island on the right side of history.
