(Washington, DC) – Log Cabin Republicans applaud the decision by Federal Court Judge Henry E. Hudson striking down the individual mandate provision of the recently passed health-care reform legislation. The court found that the federally-imposed requirement to buy health insurance is unconstitutional as it “exceeds the constitutional boundaries of congressional power.”
“Log Cabin Republicans welcome this ruling overturning one of the most intrusive provisions of Obama-care,” said R. Clarke Cooper, Log Cabin Republicans Executive Director. “The healthcare reform bill forced through Congress last year was an unprecedented expansion of federal power in blatant disregard of both the Constitution and the will of the American people. Log Cabin looks forward to working with our Republican allies in Congress to repeal and replace Obama-care with real, market-driven reforms that will lower costs while preserving the standard of care Americans deserve.” |
