(Washington, DC) – Log Cabin Republicans rebuke the Weekly Standard for promotion of grossly antigay material through its e-mail marketing program.
“The Weekly Standard is a respected conservative publication. Eugene DelGaudio’s delusional rants are beneath the dignity of its informed readership,” said Log Cabin Republicans Executive Director R. Clarke Cooper. “We strongly suggest the Standard re-evaluate the process for future e-mails from the marketing department in order to maintain the publication’s credibility and reputation as a serious news source. Conservative readers expect better than this, and the Weekly Standard should know that much of its audience, including Log Cabin Republicans, support the freedom to marry, open military service and protecting students in our public schools from abuse. Putting out this drivel under the Weekly Standard’s banner is an egregious error that needs to be corrected.”
The letter distributed by the Weekly Standard included accusations that LGBT Americans want to:
• “Indoctrinate an entire generation of American children with pro-homosexual propaganda and eliminate traditional values from American society.”
• “Their ultimate dream is to create a new America based on sexual promiscuity in which the values you and I cherish are long forgotten.”
• “Spin impressionable students in a whirlwind of sexual confusion and misinformation, even peer pressure to ‘experiment’ with the homosexual ‘lifestyle.’”
• “…ram through their entire perverted vision for a homosexual America.” |
