Washington, D.C. — Today Log Cabin Republicans announced its public support of H.R. 4260, The Ryan White Patient Equity and Choice Act. This legislation, introduced by Congresswoman Renee Ellmers (R-NC), seeks to ensure the efficacy and the appropriate allocation of funding for the Ryan White Comprehensive AIDS Resources Emergency Act program.

“I’m pleased to learn that Log Cabin Republicans is supporting The Ryan White Patient Equity and Choice Act. This important bill, which I introduced over the spring, will require HHS to study their formulas and address the problems facing millions of HIV patients across the country,” said Rep. Ellmers. “This is an important endorsement and speaks volumes for the bipartisan support this bill continues to gain as we seek to move H.R. 4260 forward. I will continue to work with my colleagues to quickly move this bill through the House of Representatives and would like to thank Log Cabin Republicans for their support.”

There are approximately 1.2 million Americans living HIV/AIDS yet 20% do not know their status, only 40% regularly see a medical professional and 70% are capable of spreading the virus. Passage of the Ryan White Patient Equity and Choice Act will help educate the public living with HIV and offer easier access to necessary medical care.
