On Tuesday, the U.S. Senate invoked cloture and voted on President Trump’s nominee for the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, Patrick Bumatay of San Diego.

Patrick will now become only the 2nd openly gay judge on the federal bench, and is the highest-ranking. He is also the first Filipino-American nominated to the federal court.

We have the thanks of President Trump and Senate Republicans for making this happen, on a 53-40 party-line vote.

California Senators Dianne Feinstein and Kamala Harris (fresh from her presidential collapse) both opposed Patrick’s nomination. Thankfully, President Trump stood by his nominee.

To be fair, Senator Harris has publicly committed to opposing any and all of President Trump’s judicial nominations, regardless of who they are. Or even before they’re announced.

Because, Trump.

Log Cabin Republicans and our allies are proud to see one of our own confirmed to the 9th Circuit- a court that clearly needs conservative champions, and at the age of 41, Patrick will be on the bench for a VERY long time.

Congratulations President Trump and Patrick Bumatay – one more milestone for equality and inclusion.
