With last night’s primaries concluded, it’s now official: every Trump-supporting House Republican who voted for the Respect for Marriage Act won their primary this year.
Log Cabin Republicans President Charles Moran released the following statement:
“Every Trump-supporting House Republican who voted for the Respect for Marriage Act won their primary this year. Congratulations to all our allies. Despite media and activist narratives to the contrary, Republican voters are supportive of marriage equality and the GOP continues to lead as the party of inclusion. The message is resoundingly clear: Supporting marriage equality is not an albatross around your neck. It is now a political winner, and Log Cabin Republicans will proudly work with any Republican ally in Congress who will help us get there. We look forward to Senate Republicans taking up the torch and voting to get the Respect for Marriage Act over the finish line.”
