Ohana, who was the first openly gay minister in Israel’s history, is a strong voice for the LGBT community and an ally of the conservative movement. His election is a massive step forward for LGBT representation in conservatism, in Israel and the broader Middle East. Ohana’s victory sets a model of LGBT inclusion for the rest of the region to follow. We hope that Leftist LGBT activists and the media join us in applauding the historic election of an openly gay conservative to one of the most powerful offices in Israel.”
